Do you ever feel like you ask God to give you opportunities to serve or reach out to others but when an opportunity does come up you just assume someone else will take care of it? Are you the type of person that would rather wait until you see if someone else volunteers to meet a need before you even consider it? Unfortunately I just described myself. I ALWAYS ask God to give me opportunities to grow by serving or helping someone in need but when the occasion comes up and its a little too uncomfortable I tend to convince myself that its not meant for me..someone else will take care of it.
A couple weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine about how God sometimes tests our obedience to Him. I feel like sometimes we are asked to do something that is uncomfortable or scary just to see if we will obey and trust Him. A lot of times if we choose to obey, what may have been scary to start will turn into a HUGE growing experience and blessing. Other times God just may want to see if we are willing like he did in the story of Abraham and Isaac ( Genesis 22:1-19). Either way I feel like lately God is making me more aware of the opportunities to serve and I am trying to trust Him more by being the first to step up and volunteer to help. I tend to be more timid and reserved but it's sometimes hard to show god's love unless you step out and do something!
God is showing me that there are people in need and with His help and guidance I can meet those needs. What is God showing you?

Ok, I just wanted to say, I FOUND YOUR COFFEE MUG!!!!!!! I'm so excited. I think you are going to like it. I know I do. The only thing I'm going to tell you is that it's cute and I think it's so you (after reading your blog). I'll try and get it in the mail Saturday. So you should get it sometime next week, Lord willing. I can so see you sitting at the breakfast table reading your Bible, doing a study, blogging, and drinking your coffee. Anyway, I'll leave you at that. I wanted to tell you right after I bought it but I couldn't get home in time to blog fast enough.
